Updated 22-Dec-10 Rachael Newman and Stefanie Schmidt were in Portland over the December 11-12 weekend with Team BC for the 2010 Paul Bergen Jr Invitational.

The 9th Annual PCS Xmas Cracker Invitational was one of the largest meets we have hosted to date, with 27 teams and 609 athletes plus coaches from throughout BC, Alberta and the Yukon represented. UVPCS alone had 118 swimmers entered in the meet.
Twas the night before Cracker, And over the net, The emails were flying, "Have you volunteered yet?"
Actually the 2010 Xmas Cracker is less than 4 days away and there are plenty of volunteer spots left to be filled. If you haven't volunteered yet and can spare some time, especially on Friday and Sunday, please send a message to meets@pacificcoastswimming.com to sign up.
UVPCS swimmer Richard Weinberger and coach Ron Jacks were among those who received awards at this year’s Swimming Canada Awards Gala held in Toronto this week. Richard won the Open Water swimmer of the year award based on his bronze medal performance at the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships this summer in the 10k event. Ron was presented with the Open Water Coach of the year award. Congratulations Richard and Ron!
MacKenzie Downing travelled to Toronto this past weekend to compete in the Canada Cup Grand Prix event at the Etobicoke Olympium. While there, she won the Silver medal in both the 100 and 200 Butterfly events. Her 200 Butterfly time ranked her among the top-25 in the World this past year and also managed to break her own Club record in that event. She also broke club records in both the 200 and 400 Freestyle events, events which she competed only in heats. Congratulations MacKenzie!

Swimmers from: Keating, Deep Cove, Arbutus, Frank Hobbs, Cedar Hill, Royal Oak and Campus View schools took part in the first PCS F.A.S.T. school swim meet of the 2010-11 season.
