National Open Water Teamer David Creel Retires

VICTORIA - National Open Water Teamer David Creel was honored in front of his peers last night during the 2011 World Championships Trials in Victoria, BC.

David Creel of Dalhousie NB competed around the globe in Open Water event for over 10 years.

Weinberger Wins 5km, Parkes Takes Bronze

VICTORIA – Pan Pacific Championships bronze medallist in the 10km open water event, Richard Weinberger and sixteen year old Sherry Liu of New Westminster, B.C won the 5km pool championships today at the Saanich Commonwealth Pool in Victoria, BC.

PCS Swimmer Named to 2011 BC Prospects West Team

PCS swimmer Lauren McMillan is one of eight 14-year-old girls from across the province to have been selected to represent the province at this year’s Prospects West training camp and Tri-meet. Lauren will be one of thirty-two 13 and 14 year-old Team BC swimmers joining with teams from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. PCS swimmer Ryan Howe was also selected as a 14yr old for the team, but has turned the trip down to focus on his studies after a busy and successful short course season.

Julia Schmidt named winner of Bate Family Greater Victoria Sports

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame (GVSHOF) and The University of Victoria Department of Athletics and Recreation are pleased to announce the establishment of a new athletic financial award, The Bate Family Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame Award, given in its first year to Vikes rookie swimmer Julia Schmidt.

Rod Barratt Wins BC Coach of the Year Honours

PCS coach Rod Barratt (B Group) was awarded the 2010 BC Swim Coaches Association, Coach of the Year Award for the 13-14 Year Age Group. The presentation was made at the BC SC Championships held March 3-6, 2011 at Saanich Commonwealth Place. Congratulations Rod!

2011 BC SC AAA Championships

PCS swimmers, coaches and parents spent this past weekend at Saanich Commonwealth Place, competing against some of the best age group swimmers in the province and hosting one of the biggest and most exciting meets held in the province each year. This year, the 2011 Team Aquatic Supplies Provincial Age-Group Championships featured over 600 swimmers representing 40 teams from across the province and the Yukon. The meet was a resounding success with much excitement, numerous records and many many great performances! As a team, PCS finished the meet in 7th place overall.

PCS Swimmers Selected to Provincial Team

Congratulations to PCS swimmers Ryan Howe and Lauren McMillan for being selected to the BC Age Group team based on their performances over the weekend at the Provincial Championships. Ryan was selected for his performance in the 400IM and Lauren for her's in the 200BR.

The pair will be part of the BC team which will compete against Alberta and the combined forces of Manitoba-Saskatchewan in April in Lethbridge, AB.

Graduating Swimmer Kim Bryan Saves Best For Final Career Meet

CALGARY - Redemption can create a lasting memory, and for University of Victoria Vikes women's backstroke specialist Kim Bryan, she's likely had an unforgettable experience at the 2011 CIS Swimming national championships at the University of Calgary Aquatic Centre.

The Williams Lake, B.C., native was not even sure if she would be swimming a year ago. A month ago, she did not even know if she would achieve CIS standard times.
