Day 2 & 3 of CIS

Day two and three of CIS Championships included an impressive five medal wins for our Uvic swimmers. 

On Friday, Stephanie Horner qualified for FISU games and captured a gold medal in the 200m Butterfly, with a time of 2:12.93.  Andre Kudaba also took part in the 200 Butterfly, competing in the consol final, and finishing up in 2:09.42.  Kudaba additionally competed in the B final for the 50 Backstroke, snagging 15th place with a time of 56.25.

Day 1 of CIS Championships

The 2013 CIS Championships were underway in Calgary yesterday, and our Vikes got off to a great start.  At least, for the most part - an illness sidelined two of UVic’s medal contenders, Alec Page and Ian Mattock.

3 UVPCS Coaches Honoured by the CSCTA

The Canadian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association recently awarded eight Canadian coaches for the development of Canada’s Olympic swimming medallists of 2012.  The money went not only to current coaches of the three medallists, but those who played instrumental roles in cultivating their talents in earlier years.

 Congratulations are in order for our UVPCS coaches, who make up three of the eight coaches who were rewarded this year!

Day 3 of the SwimBC SC AA Championships is done and more hardware for PCS swimmers, as well as some exciting personal bests and AAA times.  Congratulations to all the swimmers and their coaches for a great weekend of competition!

Day One from 2013 SwimBC SC AA Meet in Surrey

Day One of competition at the 2013 Swim BC AA Short Course Meet saw PCS swimmers on the podium 6 times and many personal best times being set. We have a relatively small team of 11 swimmers competiting at the meet, taking place in Surrey this weekend.

Aimeson King Turns Out Three Strong Races in South America

UVPCS swimmer Aimeson King had a busy past week, competing in 3 events in South America. 

In the first 10km, which took place on January 26th in Santos, Brazil, Aimeson had what Coach Ron Jacks described as the race of his life.  King finished in 16th spot, beating out five Olympians, and was only 27 seconds behind the winner.

King then competed in a sprint event in Viedma just before the World Cup, and had another strong race, coming in 7th.

VICTORIA, B.C. - After day two of the 2013 Canada West Swimming Championships hosted by the University of Victoria Vikes, both men's and women's teams sit in fourth place with the Vikes men tallying 475.5 points and the UVic women earning 224. Several Vikes pulled CIS qualifying times and will be competing in the CIS Swimming Championships in Calgary, Feb. 21-23.
