There is only one week of Swimming Camp left! The last week starts this Monday August 11th at 9am and runs until Friday the 15th. Well the 2013-2014 swim season is over for most of us and for those hanging around in Victoria, there will be maintenance swims available.

From August 6-15, 2014, summer maintenance practices will be held at UVic's McKinnon pool on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30-7:00pm.

From August 18-22, 2014, summer maintenance practices will be held at UVic's Ian Stewart (outdoor) pool on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00-8:30pm.

There are only 2 weeks left of PCS Swimming Camp at UVic: August 5-8 and August 11-15.

Camp runs from 9am to 4pm and includes a swim at McKinnon in the morning and Ian Stewart's outdoor pool in the afternoon.

Ages 8-12, Lightning Fast Level 3/Red Cross Level 6 and up.

Day One Summary - East West Duel Meet

Winnipeg. Manitoba

The first day of competition net 2 more club records and some great swims from the PCS segment of the West Team.

At the out set of the meet Molly Gowans set the tone anchoring the 4x50 Medley Relay in a PB and handily won the 800 Fr in record time - her time of 8:55 set a new club mark. (Gowans 8:56 '14)

Jordan Andrusak set a new 200IM record for 15-17 girls going 2:17.2 (Moulton 2:17.95 '13)

St Malo, Manitoba

UVPCS claims another medal. It was warm and sunny for the start of the 2.5 and 5km races south of Winnipeg.

Eden Kormendy took an early lead in the 2.5km race for 13 year girls. She had to relinquish near the end and settled for silver in a tightly contested race.

Alandra McDowell claimed bronze in a tie for 16-18 girls 5km race

Also competing were: Rachel Sawchuk (7th) 15 year girls and Justin Howe 7th in the field of 32 16 year boys.

It was a very strong final day of competition for Pacific Coast Swimming in Winnipeg culminating in the club's highest point score at the meet and more individual and relay records succumbing to the team's energy.

Day Four Summary...

UVPCS cracks open next level.

It was a very strong day for the Victoria crew. The morning performances were important today. "To have a chance to break into the top three for the final score on the girls side we needed to be strong today and make each race count". And make it count they did. Seven individual swims tonight plus 2 relays - all scoring except for one relay.

Day Three Summary

UVPCS climbs the team ranking strikes gold again.

Day four preliminaries were a bit soft for the team. It was a strong day on paper for the Victoria crew but the athletes had some challenges staying focused as the days lengthen. As result the team had a numbers of prelim swims that ended just out of the finals.

This evenings performances showed little of that. Once on the blocks our athletes showed their tough competitive nature.

Day Two Summary

2 Bronze, for Kormendy and Relay!

UVPCS was strong in the middle of the field and came up with some strong swims but was mainly kept off the podium tonight.

Twelve year old Jessica Luo in her first national competition just kept coming in the 100m Freestyle to finish in her best and 6th spot in 1:01. Minutes later she swam the 400m Individual medley jsut over her best for 7th place.
