Cracker 13 Complete! New Records!

Santa and all the Elves tapped together a very fine performance over the weekend. Months of work in the preparation phase go into the production of the annual Xmas Cracker competition. 100’s of hours are invested by many people to create the atmosphere in which over 700 incredible young people race each year. This culmination of enthusiasm skill and speed attracts athletes from all over Western Canada and the buzz in the pool makes for fast swimming

The PCS Xmas Cracker is finished for another year and a huge Thank You! to all our volunteers and officials for helping us to put on a great meet.  Special Thanks! to our Xmas Cracker Organinzing Committee who put in some very long days getting all the logistical issues sorted out and providing training to all our new meet officials.

Congratulations are also in order for all the swimmers and coaches.  There were over 700 swimmers at the meet and some very fast swims were posted  Well done everyone!

We look forward to seeing you all next year.  Happy Holidays!

UVic Alumna Downing inducted into Platinum Circle of Excellence

VICTORIA - University of Victoria Vikes alumna Mackenzie Downing was honoured Saturday, Dec. 7 as she was inducted into the University of Victoria's swimming Platinum Circle of Excellence during the eleventh annual Christmas Cracker swim meet at Saanich Commonwealth Place. Downing is among the all time Vike leaders with seventeen CIS medals in her UVic career.

McKay Wins National Scholarship

Vikes men’s swimming recruit, Jon McKay, was announced as a recipient of the Victor Davis Award at Swimming Canada’s Big Splash Awards Week. The Victor Davis Memorial Fund was established as a tribute to Victor’s contribution to competitive swimming in Canada. It is awarded to promising, high-performance Canadian amateur athletes to support them to continue their training, education, and pursuit of medals at the international level of completion.

Vikes and A-Group Fall Highlights

Members of the Vikes and PCS Senior Group are showing great early season progress.

Richard Bourgeois secured his ticket to the 2014 CIS Swimming Championships in Toronto qualifying in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Pacific Coast Swimming Blue Gold time trial, November 23 at Saanich Commonwealth Place.

Day 2 Highlights from 2013 Island Pacific Cup

Gowans took on the challenge of a faster US competitor and breaks VIR record in 200Fr

14 year old Gowans set a more moderate pace than in the heats over the first 50m. This set her up to take down the Vancouver Island Record and club record but in second spot.. She put a great effort into the final 50m falling just short of Metzsch of Portland the event winner by .26.
