Hyack Invitational Day 3 Recap

The final session of the Hyack Invitational saw twenty-six top eight results by the Bolts that included nine podium finishes.  The New Westminster meet was one of the final tune-ups prior to Pacific Coast athletes’ entering long course championship season with the summer quickly approaching.

Hyack Invitational Day 2 Recap

Pacific Coast Swimming continued their roll on day two of the Hyack Invitational. The Bolts captured a number of relay medals, and Anthony Guitierrez eclipsed the 1:00 minute mark in the Boys 12-13 100 Freestyle for the first time to lead the charge for the squad from Victoria.

Hyack Invitational Day 1 Recap

Day one of the Hyack Invitational was highlighted by a number of podium finishes for the Bolts, as well as 13 year old Michael Schmidt setting a new club and meet record in the 200 breaststroke with his time of 2:30.38.  The swim was a best time for Schmidt by close to four seconds, on his way to claiming first in the boys 12-13 category.

10 & Under Championships Day 2 Recap

Day two of the 10 & Under Championships continued to highlight the depth of the Pacific Coast Swimming, as more than twenty-nine best times were added to the thirty best times swam on day one of the meet.  In the overall team rankings, the Bolts found themselves finish on top with 2,435 total points, while the host Comox Valley Sharks placing second, bringing in 2,096 total points (complete point scores are listed below).

10 & Under Championships Day 1 Recap

A small contingent of fifteen Pacific Coast Swimming athletes’ hit the water at the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre on Saturday afternoon, competing at the two day 10 & Under Island Championships.  The first day of the meet was highlighted with a number of great swims from the Bolts, as the team posted over thirty total lifetime bests.

13th Annual Wavemaker Invitational Top 10 Individual Pacific Coast Swimming Results.  Congratulations to all one-hundred and twenty one club members that took part in the three day meet!

Wavemaker Invitational Recap

The good vibes were flowing all weekend at the 13th Annual Wavemaker Invitational.  One hundred and twenty one Pacific Coast Swimming athlete’s hit the water for one of the first long course meets of the year at Saanich Commonwealth Place.  Fifteen teams were represented over the course of the three-day meet, including the Yellowknife Polar Bears from the Northwest Territories, and the Sylvan Lake Nautical Swim Team from Alberta.

Stephanie Dixon named to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame

Former Pacific Coast Swimming and UVic Vikes swimmer Stephanie Dixon was named to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday.  She is one of seven individuals that will be formally inducted on Novemeber 1st in Toronto.  Dixon represented Canada at three Paralympic Games, winning nineteen medals and setting multiple world records in the process.  On top of this, Stephanie has been a tremendous ambassador for the sport and promotor for parasport around the world.

Canadian Olympic Trials Day 6 Recap

Day six of competition at the Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials was packed with action, as the final berths to the Olympic Games were on the line, as well as a number of Junior National teams being selected at the conclusion of the meet. 

Third year Vike Jon McKay swam to a fifth place finish in the Men’s 1500 Freestyle in a time of 15:35.23.  The swim, which didn’t have a best time posted by any of the top five competitors, saw only one Canadian make the Olympic Qualification Standard.

Canadian Olympic Trials Day 5 Recap

Distance freestylers Kaitlin Gervais and Jon McKay highlighted day five at the Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials in Toronto, which saw five UVic-Pacific Coast Swimming athletes hit the water. 

Gervais swam in the Women’s 800 Freestyle A Final on Saturday night, placing tenth, just over her personal best that she swam in the preliminaries session.
