Vikes on the Honour Roll

The Vikes landed 8 swimmers on the Honour Roll for last year's efforts.  Congratulations to the following swimmers: Jeremy Lynn, Baylee Munro, Josh Zakala, Buzz Mallender, Bryce Molder, Juliana Bartemucci, Vicky Mock, and Taylor Snowden-Richardson!

Nanaimo athlete building Tay’s Team for sick kids

A swimmer from Nanaimo is building a team intended to strengthen and support sick children.

Taylor Snowden had a family friend who was diagnosed with leukemia and wanted to let him know she was thinking about him. She crocheted a knit hat based on the Disney movie The Incredibles, and has continued creating the caps as part of a community project, she’s calling Tay’s Team.

PCS Wins Multiple Swim BC Awards

Congratulations to swimmer Richard Weinberger,  level 5 official and one of PCS' key builders Margaret Penning, and coaches Ron JacksRod Barratt, David Creel and Cody Flegel in winning awards at the SwimBC awards banquet on Saturday in Whistler.

Richard won the award for Top Open Water Swimmer in the Province for his efforts at the 2017 World Championships.  Richard has won this award a few times before as you might expect.

PCS all over Team BC selected lists

As we start into another great PCS season we are pleased to congratulate and announce all of the PCS athletes who have been slected to the Team BC Prospects and Junior teams. Everyone at PCS is behind you as part of this great family of excellence.

Prospects Team:

Camryn Stannard, Naeva Scott-Bouris, Hana Edwards, Sophie Lorette, Keir Ogilvie, Jacob Rambo, Anthony Gutierrez, Artem Kuklev..fully 8 of 60 on the team and more than double the representation of any other team in BC. See link below for lists and information.

12 & Under Stroke Camp

PCS started the season off this year with a special Start-up Stroke camp in Nanaimo outdoors for our top 12&Under swimmers. The Camp was a big success, with three pool sessions covering all four strokes and finished off with the Terry Fox 5Km run! "The swimmers did a great job looking after themselves & polishing up their skills before our regular practices begin"

Team BC and PCS firing great on Day 4

In spite of long days and late nights Team BC was full of spirit and ready to go again this morning. Michael Schmidt, Keir Ogilvie Hana Edwards and Jessica Luo all had very strong prelim performances to put themselves through to the top 8 for tonight.

Jessica Luo swam a personal best relay leg and anchored Team BC to silver second night in a row on 4x100Fr relay. She also had a PB in 50 Fly B final earlier in the evening.

Michael Schmidt also saw action in the finals taking fifth place in the men's 200Br in a PB. 

Racing continues tomorrow in Winnipeg at 9:30 Central time.

Senior Nationals Recap

PCS had five swimmers competing at the Olympic Pool in Montreal over the weekend - Sophie Tarrant, Erin Lawrance and Emma Murdock on the women's side, and Jon McKay and Cale Murdock representing the PCS men.  Out of 80 clubs that scored points, UVPCS placed 25th with 108 points.

Jon McKay wasn't at his best on the weekend but raced hard to gain some decent results.  Jon Finished 4th in the 1500 Fr, 7th in the 800, 13th in the 400 and 25th in the 200 freestyle.

Team BC Hot: Day Canada Games

Team BC had a very good first day in Winnipeg. Out of four able bodied and two Para events, BC struck gold in men's 800Fr, and both 4x200 Fr Relays. Jessica Luo(PCS)anchored the women's team with a two second PB to steal gold from Team Ontario. Sophie Lorette(PCS) came 'oh so close' to the hardware with a fourth in women's 1500Fr. Aimee Brennan took silver in Para 400Fr. Congratulaions to all.

Racing continues tomorrow with action for Team BC in 50Br, 200Fly, 400IM, 100Fr and 4x50Fr relay.
