The top three teams were Langley Olympians with 1018 points, UVPCS with 958 points, and Island Swimming with 933 points. Congratulations to all of our athletes who swam hard all weekend and to our many parent volunteers who helped make this weekend a great success.
UVPCS remains the top team on the Mens side by a margin of 61 points! At the end of day three, we are trailing Langley in the combined score by a 51 point margin. This will make for an exciting last day!
Tonight in 800 Free, Cale Murdock took second after a hard battle in a time of 8:24. Anthony Gutierrez finished 7th with a new PB of 8:41.
While the Provincials are going on at Commonwealth pool, PCS sent a group of 35 to Duncan for the annual Spring Break Invitational. In addition to the numerous best times and first time swimming events there were a few standout swims:
Eli Hicks swam two new VIR standard times in 50 Back and 50 Breast. Kieran Feenstra slashed nearly 5 seconds off his 100 free for a new time of 1:04.11. Finally, Taryn Mercer took the time off she need to qualify for Provincials this summer in her 200 backstroke with a 2:35.34.
Pacific Coast Swimming continues to lead the BC Winter Provincial Championships after Day 2 with 413 points, just ahead of the Langley Olympians! We saw records fall, lots of Top 8 finals swims and big best times.
VICTORIA – Four years ago, local athlete Lauren Crisp wanted nothing to do with swimming and thought she raced her last lap inside Saanich Commonwealth Place.
Three years later, she changed her mind and now has a pair of U SPORTS National Swimming Championship medal to show for it.
"It's crazy. It's insane. I can't believe I actually medalled - twice," said Crisp. "It still feels super surreal for me, coming back this year after three years, I never really considered this to be an option for me."
VICTORIA – King Midas is jealous of Danielle Hanus' performance.

One of the University of Victoria Vikes best medal hopefuls capped off a dream individual U SPORTS National Swimming Championship run - she still has one more relay race remaining.
On Day 1, she won a pair of events where the gold evaded her grasp in the past.
"Honestly, I haven't been thinking too much about my races or performances. I just get in, try to do my best and whatever happens, happens," said Hanus.
VICTORIA – At Canada West meets, Danielle Hanus has brought home multiple golds and she has been a medal hopeful in many U SPORT meets. On Day 1 of the U SPORTS National Swim Championship at Saanich Commonwealth Place, she thrilled the hometown crowd with a pair of golds.
"It's pretty surreal right now. It's always fun racing at this meet and we have a great home pool advantage, getting to train here everyday," said Hanus. "I'm pretty stoked for the rest of the weekend. We have a lot of swimmers dropping times and giving it their all out there."
