Canadian rower and ex-PCS swimmer Caileigh Filmer wins bronze at Tokyo!

Canadian rowers Caileigh Filmer of Victoria and Hillary Janssens of Cloverdale, B.C. won Canada's first rowing medal of Tokyo 2020 on Thursday, taking bronze in the women's pair. Caileigh previously was an incredible young swimmer with PCS and still holds 11-12 Girls club records in SC 400 Free, 800 Free and 1500 Free - a testament to her resilience and endurance to secure the medal in Tokyo! This is Canada's 10th medal at the 2020 Games.

Register Now for Summer Vikes Swim Camps!

Summer time is the best time to start swimming, learn new skills and have fun! Vikes Swim Camp introduces children to the arena of competitive swimming. Experienced coaches will lead campers in stroke improvement, swim games, swim fitness, dry land skills and provide an opportunity for feedback from under/over water video. Participants must be able to swim 50m or be at a Lightning Fast 3/Red Cross Level 6 or higher.

What's summer training without a good lake swim?

Who needs a lane to yourself when you can have the whole lake? Great practice at Thetis Lake this past week! Swimmers got to squeeze in a picture at the 2nd island about 500m from the start point. Awesome job Bolts!

Gorge Rubber Ducky Derby

Gorge derby is Rubber Ducky

The Gorge Swim Fest Society and the Rotary Club of Sidney are partnering up for their first Rubber Ducky Derby on the Gorge Waterway, set for Aug. 7.

People can purchase tickets to “sponsor” one or more ducks. On the day of the race, 4,000 yellow rubber ducks will be dropped off the Craigflower Bridge (Admirals Street) into the Gorge Waterway, where they will float 200 metres downstream to a pre-determined finish line.

The first three ducks over the finish line will win cash prizes of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 for their sponsors.

500 Swimmers, 500 Trees Planted!

Despite a challenging season, we have hit an incredible milestone of registering our 500th swimmer this year! To celebrate this achievement, PCS has partnered with OneTreePlanted to plant 500 trees for all the PCS swimmers registered this year.

Hedlin looking to hit another big milestone this year (Swimming Canada)

"The past year has been filled with many big milestones for open water swimmer Eric Hedlin. The Victoria, B.C, native got married and bought his first home with his new wife, Taylor. Hedlin is now looking to hit another big mark by trying to qualify for his first Olympic Games.

Hedlin will be one of two Canadian males competing this week at the FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier 2021 in Setubal, Portugal.

“I’m just so happy to finally be at a point where we are heading to Portugal,” said Hedlin. “I’m just really excited at this point.”
