Western Canadian Championships Day One Report

It was a very exciting first day of competition for PCS in New Westminster at the Western Canadian Swimming Championships.

Hightlites:

50 Fly
Nick Beland snuck into the B final and although was not faster tonight he had a good drop in the morning. He finished 16th at night.

200Fr
Youth final (15 and U):
Jordan Andrusak(14) set a new VIR regional and club record finishing 6th in 2:03. Right behind her was teammate Molly Gowans in 7th. Rachel Sawchuk dropped 2 seconds to 2:06 to finish 9th.

Open Event:
Vicky Mock set up her night with a best and a win in the console final 2:04
Nick Beland swam his best in the morning and finished 16th just off his prelim time of 1:58
Ryan Howe came 8th in his personal best.

Youth final
Lauren Crisp stroked to third place to open the PCS medal count and set a new BC Provincial Record breaking the record held by Suzanne Weckend from 1992. There's one off the books! Teammate Molly Gowans was in action again taking top spot in the B Final and snipped 2 sec off of her best previous to finish 1:04.3

Open Final:
Ryan Howe 5th just over his best previous.

Youth final:
Jordan Andrusak swam her 4th individual race and it was quite a performance. She established new VIR Regional records as she went along! Setting records for the 50m, 100m and the 200m Breast. Her time of 2:30.7 was good enough to take top spot overall ages.

Open Final:
Rosie Moulton won the console final in her best ever at 2:37.2
Jackson Sinclair finished 15th just off of his best from the morning.

800 Fr
Youth Final:
Molly Gowans swam just under hr PB and took the silver in 8:56
Jordan Andrusak was at it again in the 800 taking fourth in her best.
Lauren Crisp whacked 10 sec off of her PB to help the team out with a very strong 9:18

Open Final:
Vicky Mock Cruised to a best and took 3rd spot.

Although relay results were not posted it looked like 4th for our "youth" team - just missing the Provincial Record by .14

UVPCS finished the first day in 4th spot of 50+  teams.
