Support the Future of Crystal Pool – Vote YES on February 8th
If you know anyone eligible to vote in the City of Victoria, please encourage them to vote YES on February 8th to secure funding for a new pool. Additionally, we need votes for "south" to keep the current facility open during the five-year construction phase.
A pool and recreation centre benefit the entire community—not just those who use them. They enhance the livability of our city, foster social connections, and support physical and mental well-being. With Victoria’s forecasted population growth, maintaining sufficient community spaces and facilities must be a priority.
If the proposal is delayed or the pool is built with a lesser design, it will fail to meet the needs of the many groups that rely on it today and will be inadequate for future demand. A YES vote will ensure Victoria remains an attractive and livable city for families, professionals, and residents of all ages and abilities. For many, a pool is not just a luxury—it is essential for health, rehabilitation, recreation, and social inclusion. Outdoor alternatives are not viable for everyone, especially given weather, air quality, and safety concerns.
Despite some opposition over cost concerns, the reality is that a NO vote will prevent the city from borrowing funds to address the pool’s critical condition. The current facility is nearing the end of its lifespan and could become unusable at any time. If that happens, replacing it in the future will be even more expensive and significantly harder to justify to those who already find the cost prohibitive. The sooner we build, the less it will cost. Construction costs have already risen substantially since the project was first proposed, and further delays will only make it more expensive.
Every YES vote matters. Let’s invest in our city’s future by ensuring we have a pool for generations to come.
