Day 2 at 2024 Winter Provincials

Friday's racing started off with Averie Hill placing 3rd in the 11-12 400m IM with a personal best time. Noah Zhang won the 11-12 50m butterfly, dropping almost 3 seconds off his entry time for a best time of 29.94. Alex Camaraire placed 2nd in the 50m butterfly, obtaining his first open Canadian Trials cut in prelims. Noah Zhang was back up on the podium placing 2nd in the 200m freestyle, followed by Ethan Zhang who came in 3rd. Sophie Wood placed 1st in the para 100m backstroke just a few tenths over her best time.

Provincial Day 1 Highlights

2024 Winter Provincial Championships started off with an exciting first day at Saanich Commonwealth Place with over 630 swimmers competing across the weekend. 42 teams joined us from across the Province to spend their weekend racing with the top swimmers in British Columbia. Pacific Coast Swimming has 50 swimmers competing this weekend ranging from 11 to 23 years old. Today's races included best times, meet records, qualifying standards and club records for PCS across preliminaries and finals.

Eric Hedlin shy of Olympic Cut in 10km

Victoria’s Eric Hedlin was Canada’s top swimmer on a sunny, breezy morning at Old Doha Port. The 30-year-old finished 31st, 1:56.7 behind winner Kristof Rasovszky of Hungary. France’s Marc-Antoine Olivier was 2.4 seconds behind for silver, followed by Hector Pardoe of Great Britain, who was 8 seconds off the pace for bronze.
