2023 Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships

Pacific Coast Swimming had 8 athletes competing at the 2023 Speedo Canadian Swimming Championsips this past week in Toronto. The 6 day long competition started on Tuesday, August 1st running through until August 6th. On Tuesday, Rubin Lee qualified 10th in the console final for the mens 14-15 100m backstroke, placing 20th overall. Sophie Wood swam a personal best in the para 400m freestyle in the prelims session. The following day, Tracy Zhao placed 5th in the 13-14 100m breaststroke A final with a personal best time of 1:16.00.

2003 Club Record Broken at Far Westerns

Pacific Coast Swimming attended the 2023 Far Western Championships July 27-30th in Concord California with 7 athletes. The 30 degree heat at the outdoor pool was no match for our team of athletes who broke numerous club records and swam multiple lifetime bests.

Club Records & Qualifiers at 2023 Summer Provincials

Pacific Coast Swimming had 36 athletes at 2023 Long Course Provincial Championships hosted by VPSC at the UBC Aquatic Centre. From Thursday to Sunday, PCS gained 5 new club records, as well as 12 new Canadian Junior Championship qualifiyng times. On Thurday, Sophie Wood placed 1st in the para 100m butterfly, dropping alomst 2 seconds off her best. Following, Maelle Sanborn placed 2nd in the girl's 13-14 200m breaststroke as a newly-turned 13 year old, shaving over four seconds off her previous personal best.

Summer Divisional Highlights

The competition kicked off with a bang, and Pacific Coast Swimming has taken the lead right from the start. With some great performances , our team has set the pace and positioned themselves at the forefront of the competition. First off in the 200 IM girls' category, Averie Hill secured the 4th place with a time of 2:47.3, closely followed by Ada Chen in 5th place with a time of 2:47.57. In the 13-14 age group, Maelle Sanborn delivered an impressive performance, securing the bronze medal with a time of 2:38.14.

New qualifiers & club records at 2023 Regionals

Over 100 Pacific Coast Swimming swimmers competed at the 2023 Long Course Vancouver Island Regionals that took place at Commonwealth Pool this past weekend. We had multiple new divisonal, provincial and Far Western qualifiers along with the 10&under club record broken by Ada Chen in the 50m butterfly at 35.0 The previous record was held by Alyssa B. with a time of 35.64.
