Training Camp 2022 Athletes take on Edmonton

11 swimmers, 2 coaches, 14 days and one house - what could go wrong?

Our national training camp swimmers are welcomed back this week after two weeks of team work, resilience and countless memories. Our training camp swimmers started off by competing at Alberta Provincial championships for 3 out of thes 4 day meet. Lucy Hallett placed 1st in 1500m freestyle, followed shortly by Jessica Hier placing 3rd. Mattia Nardi placed 1st in 200m butterfly & 2nd in the 400m IM, behind Jasper Van Maren who placed 1st in 400m IM. On the women's side, Riley Greenfield placed 3rd in the 400m IM.

Our swimmers had a cook off competition (Iron Chef style) over the course of the trip. Down to the final 2 teams - Simon, Riley, Jessica, and Jasper came first. Way to go chefs!

Our top overall performances of the camp go to Mattia Nardi (M) and Jessica Hier (F). Runner ups were Simon de Rosnay & Lucy Hallett.

Our swimmers didn't only hit the pool - we took on some challenges: Axe Throwing, Disk Golf & Rock Climbing. We took a trip to West Edmonton Mall which was a first all of the athletes, and visited the University of Alberta campus.

Our final practice of the training camp was a race-suit racing set - where we had 3 swimmers go their best times in practice. No matter how tired, they gave it their all to go out with a bang.

The two weeks were filled with sun and snow, challenges, cooperation, new experiences and memorable moments. Most of our training camp athletes are back here in Edmonton mid-April for Western Championships.
