Senior Circuit #1 - New UVPCS Records

Last weekend UVPCS hosted the first Team Aquatic Supplies-Swim BC Senior Circuit meet of the season and highlights included two new UVPCS records. Caleigh Filmer set a record for girls’ (11-12) 800 Freestyle, while in the 200 Breaststroke for 13-14 boys, Aidan Thirkell powered to a new club record. Congratulations to Caileigh and Aidan!

Each year, university athletes are required to meet the standards to qualify for the Canadian Interuniversity Swimming Championships (CIS) held each spring. Three of our UVic swimmers met these standards at this first major meet of the fall: Derek Doerksen, Jeff Saganski and Eric Stein can now begin to envision their swims next spring at CIS.

Four of our swimmers were first in events: David Creel (400 IM); MacKenzie Downing (100 Butterfly); Nick Sinclair (100 Backstroke) and Richard Weinberger (1500 Freestyle).

Four of our swimmers were second in events: MacKenzie Downing (200 Freestyle); Siobhan Newell (400 IM); Jeff Saganski (100 Butterfly); Eric Stein (400 IM).

Four UVPCS swimmers finished third in events: Eleanora Dalling (100 Backstroke); Siobhan Newell (100 Freestyle); Nick Sinclair (400 Freestyle); Eric Stein (1500 Freestyle).

We had a further 13 swimmers finish in the top 8: Ryan Clouston, Katie Cook, Derek Doerksen, Caileigh Filmer, David Killy, Evan Letkeman, Ian Mattock, Remy Mock, Rachael Newman, Jessica Pietrusiak, Stefanie Schmidt, MJ Sorba and David Vizsolyi.
