PCS sailed through the final day of competition in Quebec City to finish top of the female team score board by almost 200 pts. The 22 member team also concluded in fifth overall combined score and top BC team in the meet. Kamloops was next highest BC team in 11th spot. Molly Gowans landed the top female aggregate with five individual gold and one silver.
In the 200 IM, Hana Edwards raced to a 4th place finish in 2:33.02, followed in the next heat by another 4th by Jessica Luo in 2:28.70. Eden Kormendy finished 10th in her first finals of the meet (2:32.96) and 15 year old Allison Ballantyne came up 9th in 2:28.37 the heat after. As our only 50 fly final of the night, Lucas Tyler broke the club and VIR record in 25.96 (Ryan Howe, 2011) in 6th. 400 Free saw 12 year old Sophie Lorette narrowly miss the club record finishing 6th in 4:43.80. Molly Gowans added her 5th gold medal of the meet in a smooth 4:19.10, as Erin Lawrance swam alongside her to an 8th finish in 4:32.79. Anthony Gutierrez (12) made his first final of the week in the 13&u boys 400 free, also finishing 8th after setting a new club and VIR record in the morning of 4:33.02.
While most of the team will head home tomorrow after the Open Water race, Lucas Tyler, Molly Gowans and Lauren Crisp will move on to Montreal for the Canadian Senior Nationals at the Pointe Claire Aquatic Center. Competition begins on Thursday.
