Day 1 Finals at the RBC Canadian Junior Championships in Winnipeg started off with a bang.
Naeva Scott Bouris swimming in her first ever National Final placed 4th in the 13-14 Girls 800FR and dropped almost 9 seconds off her personal best time.
Sophie Lorette continued to drop time in her 100BF placing 2nd in the B Final with a personal best time, which broke the Girls 15-17 Club Record set back in 2012.
Keir Ogilvie followed up on Sophie’s swim with his own personal best time and also broke the Club Record and VIR Record (15-17yr) in the Boys 14-15 100BF placing 3rd in the A Final.
Hana Edwards swam in the Girls 15-17 200BK B Final placing 2nd, and slightly over her personal best time.
Tom Chapman was the last UVPCS swimmer of the night and finished off the night in a personal best time in the Boys 14-15 200BK B Final where he placed 2nd.

New cuts, second swims for PCS crew.
From Winnipeg: 13 UVPCS athletes are here in Winnipeg competing at Junior Nationals. Of our 9 swims today five moved up rank, with Keir Ogilvie (100 Fly), Sophie Lorette (100Fly), Hana Edwards and Tom Chapman all getting through to race in the top 16. Ogilvie qualified 2nd w a PB and his first Olympic Trials cut. Lorette was under the senior national qualifying time and narrowly off the club record (15-17) and qualified 9th moving up from 25th spot. Chapman and Edwards will compete in the B final. Naeva Scott-Bouris will swim in the top eight in the 800 Freestyle tonight.
