Our team of 30 swimmers started off at provincials today with 19 finals this evening at a our morning sessions. We started off the night with Mila Chernenkoff placing 5th in the girl's 11-12, dropping 2.5 seconds from her already best time in the morning, moving up from seeded 13th, to 5th in the finals. In the 13-14 categroy Riley Greenfield placed 8th in finals just over her best. Finally in the 15-17 category Bridget Rupert moved up a spot at finals to place 9th overall in the 100m backstroke just over her best time. On the boy's side, Rubin Lee placed 5th under a second over his best in the 13-14 age category. Following the backstroke was 200m freestyle, with a quick turnaround Chernenkoff was back on the blocks for another best time dropping 6.3 seconds from her seeded time to finals. The boys followed well with Kieran Feenstra moving up from 9th to 5th with a 2 second personal best. Right behind Feenstra was Alex Camaraire, dropping 3 and a half seconds off his best to place 6th overall. Last on the boy's 200m freestyle was Alonso Gutierrez who moved up from 22nd to 5th for finals. Taking 3 seconds off in the morning, he managed to break 2:00 for a time of 1:59.17 and secure another Junior National qualifying time. Next up was our 200m butterfliers - Jessica Hier, Sawyer Nabozniak, Mattia Nardi, & Bryce Baker. Hier placed 8th with a second over her best time in the girls 13-14 age category. Nabozniak placed 9th in the men's 13-14 category, dropping 1.8 seconds off his personal best. Nardi (on his last swim with us) placed 5th overall in the men's 200m fly. We will miss you Mattia!
Following the butterfly, we had Feenstra place 6th in the 50m breaststroke dropping 0.5 off his best time. In the 15-16 category, Atanas Tchaouchev placed 5th overall. 17&over boys, Arran Robertson got the bronze, a few tenths over his best.
For the last of the individual relays, Jessica Hier swam her 1500m freestlye, placing 5th and dropping 8.3 seconds from her best time. To finish off the evening, The boys 13-14 4x50m freestyle relay (A. Camaraire, R. Lee, N. Hicks, K. Feenstra) placed 3rd to secure a spot on the podium with a time of 1:46.02. On the boy's 15-17 relay (A. Guterriez, A. Robertson, J. Van Maren, A. Tchaouchev) the boys broke the previous club record set in March, with a time of 1:39.98!
