PCS women have boosted their lead up to 160 points ahead of Edmonton Keyano thanks to huge medal haul tonight. The combined team still sits in 5th with one day to go but has closed the point gap with 4th place Mississauga to a single point. The night started off with a bang in the 100 Backstroke, where fifteen year old Lauren Crisp captured a gold medal, just off her own personal and club records in 1:03.36. Also in the 100 backstroke was Hana Edwards (12) who narrowly missed the podium, finishing 4th in 1:09.61. Hannah Lorette followed up with a 9th place in the 13yo girls, with a time of 1:08.13.
In the next event, twelve year old Michael Schmidt took down the Provincial Record set in 1999 by over two seconds clocking a blistering 2:34.24 in 200 Breast to finish 2nd in the 13&U category. On the girls side, Hana Edwards raced to another 4th place finish in 2:49.67. In the 15 year old category Sophie Tarrant finished 9th in 2:47.15.
200 Freestyle was a very exciting event for PCS swimmers. Sophie Lorette (12) raced to a best time, to finish 8th in 2:16.73. Jessica Luo (13) led start to finish, finishing with a gold medal in 2:08.49. In the 15 year old category, PCS was represent by three swimmers, including Molly Gowans who took the gold in a new best time of 2:01.30 knocking off a VIR record from 1995 (K Brambley). Erin Lawrance shaved a second of her best time to finish in fourth, 2:07.46, and Allison Ballantyne finished tenth in 2:10.44. On the mens side, Lucas Tyler (15) cruised to a solid 1:56.17 earning him a silver medal.
The only relay team to medal from PCS was the girls 12&U (Hana Edwards, Sophie Lorette, Laura Rincon, Kali Lancaster), racing a very safe swim to win gold, just shy of the PCS club record.
